Mitar B. Vranic, DO, is a 1992-graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. His postgraduate training includes his internship (1992-1993) and general surgery residency served at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital (1993-1997), as well as his peripheral vascular surgery fellowship performed at Ohio University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio (1997-1998), and his vascular endovascular surgery fellowship conducted at Arizona Heart Institute (1998-1999), where he learned cutting edge minimally invasive endovascular techniques from his mentor, Dr. Edward B. Diethrich, AHI founder and world-recognized surgeon. Dr. Vranic attained board certification in general surgery and vascular surgery with the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, holds Non-invasive Vascular Duplex/Ultrasound as well as Trauma Ultra Sound certifications, and became certified as a Wound Care Specialist and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Specialist with the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. Prior to medical school, he completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Indiana University. Furthermore, he has been honored with the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2013, 2018) and the Patients’ Choice Award (2013, 2014, 2018) by vitals.com. Dr. Vranic is a member of several professional societies and associations, such as the American Osteopathic Association, the International Society for Endovascular Surgery, the European Society of Vascular Surgery, and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, which allows him to remain at the forefront of his challenging field.
